Women Leaders in Tech: Paving the Way in GenAI and Beyond🤖💯

As technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, the role of women in driving this change is becoming increasingly critical. A recent BCG study highlights an important trend: senior women in technical roles are not just keeping pace with their male counterparts but are also leading the charge in adopting Generative AI (GenAI). This finding is more than just a statistic; it is a powerful indicator of the shifting dynamics in the tech industry, where women are beginning to redefine leadership and innovation.

At 1for2 Social Innovation, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, equity, and diversity (and belonging) within organizations. This commitment aligns perfectly with the insights from the BCG study, which underscores the importance of women in shaping the future of technology. In fact, the study found that senior women in technical functions are 10 percentage points ahead of their male peers in adopting GenAI. This leadership is not just a response to technological advancements but also a reflection of the unique pressures women face to overperform in a male-dominated industry.

As a technologist and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, I find these findings resonate deeply with my experiences. Throughout my career -especially during my time at OutSystems, where women excelled in many roles, including deep technical leadership, and now with 1for2 Social Innovation -I have witnessed firsthand how empowering women in tech can lead to transformative change both in the workplace and across society.

But this progress should not stop here. Organizations must take proactive steps to improve the workplace for greater inclusivity. This involves supporting women who are already leading in technology and creating pathways for more women to rise to these positions. Leadership advocacy, targeted upskilling programs, and clear policies on responsible AI usage are just a few ways we can support this movement.

I encourage you to read the full BCG article to gain deeper insights into how women are leading in GenAI and what can be done to support their continued growth. Let’s continue championing a future where inclusivity, equity, and diversity are at the forefront of technological innovation.
